One of my favorite parts of working with students is identifying barriers and then working together to climb over, go around or blast them out of the way entirely. It is joyful to see students accomplishing small, immediate goals and large, time intensive goals. Everyone has a journey and education is a satisfying part of that journey.

I had my own education journey when I started my Associates degree again after 20 years and then went on to get my Bachelor’s degree. It took seven years, but I got there one class, one midterm and one final at a time and it was well worth the time and effort. Soon after graduating I got my dream job.

I think about what would have happened if I had listened to the fears in my head and not started college again or didn’t push on to finish. I am grateful for those people who cheered me on and now I am grateful I can cheer others on their journeys.

I love that I get to share my love of education with students. I also love hearing the excitement and seeing the smiles when students realize they’ve taken the next step in reaching their goals. I like reminding students that we all have different paths to a degree, and your path is the perfect path for you. Here’s a little bit about me:

-I’ve worked in higher education for four years
-I received my bachelor’s degree in applied science
    -I have two cats
-I spend my free time hiking, swing dancing and playing card games

I have worked in higher education student success for over a decade now, and what I enjoy most about working with students is having an active role in their personal, professional, and career growth, development, and success.

As a first-generation college student myself, I understand the unique challenges that come with navigating college. I also remember the profound and lasting impact that mentors and coaches made in my life during those early years, as they were committed to my success and helping me discover my purpose and potential.

This is why I am passionate about coaching and supporting students, helping them build confidence, realize their dreams, and conquer every obstacle that stands in their path to success.
