National Merit Checklist

  • Apply to Boise State University! You can apply online. Apply by the February 15 scholarship deadline to be considered for other Boise State Scholarships.
  • Visit Boise State! Discover Boise State at one of our Saturday preview programs held October 10, January 16, and March 6. Or contact Roxana Vidrio to schedule a customized visit!
  • Apply to the Honors College. Become part of Boise State's challenging and rewarding honors college experience.

Important Dates

  • September
    National Merit Corporation will announce the names of the National Merit Semifinalists!
  • As Early as January 2, 2010
    Apply for on-campus housing.
    Apply for federal financial aid and scholarships.
  • February 9
    National Merit Corporation will announce the National Merit Finalists!
  • As Early as February 15
    Confirm your intent to Enroll on BroncoWeb. Sign up for New Student Orientation through BroncoWeb.
  • Late March
    Boise State University scholarship award notifications will be sent to students who submit their admissions application materials by February 15.
  • April 28
    Deadline for National Merit Scholarship Corportation to receive school of choice report from Finalists.

2010 National Merit Finalists are eligible to receive the Boise State University Langroise Distinguished Scholar Scholarship.  This four year renewable award is a full ride scholarship that includes university-defined educational costs for standard tuition and fees, on campus room and board, and a textbook allowance.  The value of the award package is over $50,000 for Idaho residents.  Nonresident Finalists also receive an out- of- state tuition scholarship increasing the value to over $86,000.   In addition, Finalists are guaranteed the opportunity to enroll in Boise State’s prestigious Honors College.

To be eligible for the National Merit Finalist full-ride scholarship, you must complete the following: 

  • Submit all admission materials by February 15
  • Advance to Finalist standing with National Merit Corporation
  • Select Boise State University as your first choice school with the National Merit Corporation by April 28
  • Provide the Admissions Office with a copy of your National Merit Finalist letter

Full-ride scholarships may be limited due to availability of funding and will be awarded to those who first complete the steps above.  All other eligible Finalists will be awarded standard tuition and fees, a $1,000 stipend, and the opportunity to enroll in Boise State's Honors College.


*The award is limited to 2010 National Merit Finalists who enroll at Boise State University the semester immediately following high school graduation.
