When Should I Apply for Admission?
Most people begin college in the fall semester (August). We suggest that you begin applying for admission at least nine months in advance. If you have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, you should apply before February 15 to be considered for academic scholarships. We do have final deadlines to receive admission materials.
Early applicants have an advantage in meeting financial aid deadlines and registering for earlier orientation programs.
How Do I Apply for Undergraduate Admission?
You should complete and send the undergraduate application with a one-time, nonrefundable application fee to Boise State University. You may apply online.
To work toward your degree at Boise State, you will need to send us additional information based on your current educational experience. If you have attended any colleges, we will need an official transcript from each. We may require your high school transcript or GED scores. ACT or SAT I may also be requested.
After submitting your application, we will inform you of additional information needed. You can also contact our office to verify if we received your admission materials.
What Types of Housing Are Available?
Boise State offers six residence halls for single students (comprising over 1,200 individual spaces) and five university apartment complexes for married or single parents and upperclassmen. There is also a wide variety of privately owned off-campus homes and apartments in Boise or surrounding communities.

How Do I Apply for University Housing?
You may apply online for university housing. You must be admitted before you can apply for university housing. There is a $250 deposit and processing fee for residence halls or a university owned student apartment lease. Does Boise State Have a Greek System?

How Do I Apply for Scholarships and Financial Aid?
If you are applying for federal financial aid or need-based scholarships, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can fill out the form online or obtain a form from your high school or college counselor in December. You should submit the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1. The priority filing deadline is February 15. It will take approximately three weeks for the information to reach Boise State. Applications received by Boise State after the priority deadline will be processed in the order they are received with no guarantee for timely payment of fall registration fees.
Apply for admission to Boise State. Students with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average will automatically be considered for most scholarships simply by submitting all admission materials by February 15. Award notification will be sent after you are admitted to the university.
Several scholarships are available based on academic achievement, special skills and talents, or a combination of academic achievement and financial need. Students can be considered for some special scholarships, including need-based scholarships, by submitting all admission materials, the supplemental scholarship application as well as the FAFSA by February 15. How Much Will It Cost?

Costs for an undergraduate student taking 8 to 19 credit hours each semester of the 2008-2009 academic year are:
- Tuition for Idaho Resident - $4,632
- Tuition for Non-Resident - $13,208
- Room and Board - approx. $6,140 (can vary based on room type and meal plan)
- Health Fees: All students are assessed a student health insurance fee each semester. If you are already covered by a health insurance program, you can request a waiver of the student health insurance fee before the tenth day of classes through your student BroncoWeb account.
- Other Fees: You should also allow for personal expenses, such as books and supplies, clothing, transportation, laundry, ski pass, movie tickets, etc.
Are There Scholarships for Out-of-State Students?
Boise State offers two programs to help students pay for nonresident tuition. Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Awards reduce the cost of nonresident fees for a limited number of students coming to Boise State from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington or Wyoming. To qualify, you must have a high school or college grade point average of at least a 3.0. Students in the following programs are ineligible: nursing, radiologic sciences, and some applied technology programs. WUE awards may be renewed if you maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average and earn at least 22 credits during the academic year (excluding summer sessions). To apply, submit all admission materials by February 15. Students who miss the deadline or are entering Boise State during spring semester should contact the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.
Some out-of-state students, especially those interested in high-tech majors, may be considered for the Gem program which covers the amount of nonresident tuition. More than 200 areas of study are offered in seven colleges, along with many pre-professional programs.
When May I Visit the Campus?
You are strongly encouraged to visit the campus during the academic year. The New Student Information Center, located in the Student Union, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Student-guided walking tours of the campus are offered Monday through Friday.

How Do I Get Advice on What Classes to Take?
Before you begin taking classes, we invite you to campus to learn about our community through talks and tours. Whether you enter Boise State from high school or as a transfer student, you and your family will benefit from our orientation program. You will meet with an academic advisor, select your classes, and complete your class registration. Current Boise State students provide campus tours, answer your questions, and give you the "inside story" on how to thrive at Boise State. You can also learn about hundreds of campus organizations where you will find close friends, personal growth, and plenty of fun.

Can I Get College Credit for Taking AP Classes?
Boise State awards college level credits to students who have achieved a specific minimum score on the final exam in the Advanced Placement classes. Talk to your high school teacher or counselor about how to sign up for the final AP exam.

I didn't take classes at Boise State last semester. Do I need to reapply?
Before submitting a new application, please check your BroncoWeb account at broncoweb.boisestate.edu to see if you have "active" admission status and do not need to reapply. If you enrolled in classes for Spring 2005 or later, you will be considered a continuing student for up to two years after your last semester of enrollment. For example, if you enrolled in classes Spring 2006, you remain "active" until Spring 2008. When in doubt, check your BroncoWeb account.
Can I Defer My Admission?
Yes, for one semester only. If you want to defer your admission for a longer period of time, you will be asked to reapply for admission and you may need to resubmit admission materials such as transcripts.
